Epiglu - Tissue Adhesive

• Wait until complete hemostasis.
• Remove possible foreign bodies from the wound.
• Clean the area around the wound with alcohol.
• Do not apply cream or ointment.
• Take a tube from the refrigerator or deep freezer.
• Screw a tube cap onto the thread of the aluminium tube.
• Hold the tube upright with the thread turning upwards. While screwing on the cap, you will have to overcome a resistance thus opening the tube a the top.
• Important: Screw on the cap only immediately prior to first use of the tube. For packages with several tubes always open and use up only one tube after the other.
• Unsrew the upper cap of the tube cap. EPIGLU® is now ready for use.
• Break-off one drop-in tray from the bar.
• Drip the desired amount of EPIGLU® (approximately 1 to 3 drops) into the depression.
• Soak up the solution with the dispensing pipette by squeezing the pipette approximately 1 to 2 cm behind the bend with thumb and index finger.
• Dip the pipette into the liquid and release your hold.
• Adapt the wound edges (see schematic diagram).
• Smooth out wrinkled skin before application.
• Bend injured joints, for example fingers, before application of the adhesive.
• Apply 1 to 2 drops, depending on length of the wound (see schematic diagram).
• Spread the adhesive with the bend of the dispenser.
• Wait until the first layer of adhesive has set (approximately 10 seconds).
• The polymerization can be recognized when the adhesive appears less glossy.
• Apply again 1 to 2 drops adhesive and spread the solution in a wider layer than the first time – the adhesive must be spread thinly on the healthy skin.
• Wait again until the adhesive has set.
• If necessary apply a third layer – as described before.
• The final polymerization of all adhesive layers can take some minutes.
• A later correction of the wound edges is only possible by stripping off the totally polymerized adhesive.
• Throw the drop-in tray and dispenser away after the tissue adhesive has polymerized.
• Place the upper cap on the tube again loosely (do not screw it on) and store the tube upright in the gap of the package.
• Store the tube – unopened or opened – in the refrigerator, or even better in the deep freezer (see: Storage instructions).
• If the tip should stick together after several uses, cut this area off.

Important: Apply the adhesive sparingly and spread it to the wound edges. It is not advisable to apply one thick layer, as this does not improve the adhesive strength, but causes the adhesive to peel off the healthy skin more easily. Avoid contact of the adhesive with gloves, instruments, gauze, etc. to prevent adhesion.

Hint: Injured joints, for examples fingers, should be bent before applying the adhesive. Wrinkled skin should be smoothed out.
